SORI SUPPORT

A little help.Back to your sound.

Adjust app volume and mute from your Mac’s menu bar. Here’s how to get started and find help when you need it.

Find an answer

Before you begin

You need macOS 14.2 or later, permission to access system audio, and a compatible stereo device selected as your default output.

Compatibility can vary by app and output device. This version does not offer volume boost above 100%, separate output routing for each app, or control of multichannel and virtual output configurations.

The essentials

Sori Volume Mixer appears as Volume Mixer on your Mac.

01

Open Sori

Open the slider icon in your Mac’s menu bar.

02

Choose your settings

On first launch, import an existing Volume Mixer settings file or choose to start with default volumes. Importing leaves your selected source file unchanged. Starting with defaults does not apply your previous volume or mute choices.

03

Play and adjust

Play audio in another app to see its controls. Allow system audio access when macOS asks, then adjust that app’s volume or mute.

Keep Volume Mixer running to apply your saved settings. Muting keeps the saved volume ready for later; moving the slider while muted changes the volume to use when you unmute.

Troubleshooting

A few quick checks to get your audio back on track.

An app is missing from the panel

Start playback in that app and reopen the panel. Apps that are not playing audio may not appear initially. Some app and output configurations may not be supported.

System audio access was denied

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording and check Volume Mixer, then use the app’s retry action. The section name can vary with your macOS version.

This permission is used to process system audio locally. Volume Mixer does not record microphone input, capture screen images, or save audio recording files.

An app is silent after changing outputs

During recovery or an unsupported output change, a protected app can remain silent. Use “Use original volume” to temporarily return to the source’s original output, or retry to apply the saved settings.

Your saved volume and mute choices remain available. The original output can be audible even if your saved choice was muted or quieter.

Quit Volume Mixer

Use Quit in the panel. Volume Mixer waits for its audio resources to be released before closing. If cleanup fails, the app stays open and offers a retry action.

If a cleanup error is still shown, audio control has not been confirmed as released. Follow the retry action in the app.
